Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

  • Do I need to attend with my child?

When I work with children and young people (under 18 years old), it is vital for the child to feel listen to, so often the sessions are led by them. This can mean that they want the sessions one-to-one and other times they need their parents to work alongside them.

  • Can I claim on my insurance?

I work independently and I am not affiliated with any Dutch health insurance provider, therefore I work predominantly with privately paying clients. It would be unlikely that you would be able to claim on your insurance, but please check with your health insurance provider directly to find out if reimbursements are possible.

  • How regualr are sessions?

On average sessions tend to be weekly. Setting a specific time aside for you each week to work towards your goals.

  • Is this service confidential?

Yes. What is said in our sessions is kept between us. The only exceptions to this are:

    1) If I thought you were a risk to yourself or if someone else was in danger. I would talk this through with you first, but I would need to inform a service who was better equipped to help you.

    2) I often talk to my supervisor about my cases so that they can ensure I am offering a high quality of care. They are also required to follow GDPR rules.

Lastly, all your notes are kept on a secure system, that follows the EU GDPR recommendations.

  • How long are sessions?

Sessions are about 45-60 minutes and can last anywhere between 6 - 20 sessions, depending on your difficulty. Prior to our sessions starting we agree a number of session you would like to sign up to, normally 6, then we review how you are feeling during this last session. If you feel you need more, we are able to add how ever many you feel comfortable with.

  • How much of a committment is therapy?

Therapy, especially Cognitive Behavioural approaches, require you to feel motivated to change. Therapy is a partnership, where we work together to move you towards your goals. This will require continued work outside of the session also, so that we can see long lasting effects.

If at any point you do not feel ready for therapy, we can of course stop and you can reach out to me again when you feel ready.
